Jasmine Crockett is a Democratic U.S. Representative for Texas’s 30th congressional district, covering parts of Dallas and Tarrant counties. Born on March 29, 1981, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was raised by a pastor and a former postal worker. After earning a business degree from Rhodes College in 2003, her experiences with racism led her to pursue law. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 2006 and started her career as a public defender. Later, she founded her own law firm focusing on civil rights and criminal defense. During the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, she provided legal support to demonstrators at no cost. Crockett was elected to the Texas House in 2020 and became known for her legislative activism and role in opposing restrictive voting laws.
In 2022, she succeeded Eddie Bernice Johnson in the U.S. House of Representatives. In Congress, she represents the interests of her Dallas-area constituents and is affiliated with the Congressional Progressive Caucus. She is also noted for her strong presence on social media, where she communicates directly with the public and advocates for progressive causes. Throughout her career, she has focused on social justice, climate policy, and expanding civil rights, drawing inspiration from her upbringing and early legal work. For updates on her legislative efforts, she maintains an active presence on both her official government website and social platforms.
